Edgefest is back, and it’s bringing some big names along with it.

After a one-year hiatus, the annual festival organized by Toronto radio station 102.1 The Edge is coming to Toronto’s Downsview Park on July 12, featuring headliners Linkin Park and the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots.

Canadian rockers the Sam Roberts Band will also play one of the event’s two stages, as will The Bravery, Ashes Divide, Attack In Black, Arkells, The Coast, Creature, The Flatliners, Hostage Life, Modernboys Moderngirls, The Stereohoax, Sweet Thing and USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker).

Organizers are hoping to give the festival an environmentally friendly twist.

“We’re going to do our best to make the festival as green as possible,” says Edge program director Alan Cross. “For example, the unique location of Downsview Park will allow everyone to leave the car at home and take public transit. Linkin Park is the perfect partner for this because they’re committed to environmental issues.”

Tickets for the general public go on sale Saturday at 2 p.m. via Ticketmaster for $80.50, plus a two-dollar facility fee.

Inside Edge members can get tickets beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. for $75.50, plus the facility fee.

Edgefest was originally conceived in 1987 as a one-off 10th-anniversary “thank you” to station listeners.

It has since become an annual summer event, with recent past performers including Finger Eleven, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Our Lady Peace, Mobile, Yellowcard and the All-American Rejects.
