Reports are surfacing that A-list stars are urging their union, the Screen Actors’ Guild, to begin negotiations for a new contract with studios as soon as possible.

Variety reports that George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are among the actors urging their union not to wait until their contract expires later this year to start negotiating.

The SAG deal expires June 30, and all feature developments are on hold until the actors sign a new deal, but there are no talks scheduled in the near future.

“I think there’s a lot of strike fatigue, and I think you actually start losing negotiating power,” Clooney said at an Oscar luncheon recently.

“I would hope we in the Screen Actors Guild get back to the table.”
