Val Kilmer will replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT the crime-fighting car in NBC’s upcoming TV movie remake of “Knight Rider.”

Arnett had finished voicing KITT for the revival of the ’80s series, but was asked by General Motors to step aside because he has also done voice-over work for GMC Trucks.

KITT is a Ford Mustang, and the TV movie is sponsored by Ford.

“I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new Knight Rider movie,” Arnett told Variety.

“However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project.”

The “Knight Rider” TV movie will air Feb. 17.

Arnett, who was born and raised in Toronto, is best known for his roles in “Arrested Development” and “Blades of Glory.”
