Britney Still Battling Mental Woes, Extends Stay in Ward
It’s going to take at least 14 more days to get the crazy out of Britney Spears.
E! Online reports that the pop star has extended her involuntary stay in the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center for up to two weeks, even though she was initially only supposed to be there for 72 hours.
“It is the right decision,” a source told E! News. “She is safest right now under the care of professionals.”
The original decision to admit the troubled songstress was made at the wishes of her parents Saturday night, but reports now say that the only person with the authority to request involuntary stay is Spears’ psychiatrist, Deborah Nadel.
Since there is no court order forcing the 26-year-old to stay in the hospital, Spears could legally challenge her medical team’s decision.
Speaking of legalities, the ongoing custody battle between Spears and Kevin Federline over their two boys continues today.
No changes are expected to develop in Spears’ absence.
