Mommy-to-be Jamie-Lynn Spears, 16, made her first public appearance since her bun-in-the-oven announcement a few weeks ago.

The younger sister of pop singer Britney Spears was spotted outside an adult education centre in Hammond, Louisiana toting a GED textbook around with her this weekend. It is unclear as to why the young star would be studying for a high school equivalency examination being that Spears was a student of the highly prestigious Parklane Academy, and received ongoing tutoring while filming on-set of her show “Zoey 101″.

According to People Magazine, the star re-enrolled at Parklane as a full-time student just before thanksgiving in 2007, and only a few weeks after that, the star was spotted purchasing a pregnancy calendar and a photo frame for a sonogram image.

While Spears caught up on some reading in Louisiana, the season finale of “Zoey 101″ aired. In the episode Zoey’s parents show up for a surprise visit to tell her that they will be moving to London, England. The episode ends with a big, looming question mark regarding weather or not Zoey will go with her parents or stay at school with her friends.

According to reports by MTV News, the finale generated some lofty ratings, despite the negative press about the baby.
