Bad News for Winfrey: Mokgobo Trial Postponed
Oprah Winfrey’s Golden Globe nomination might just be the only thing making her smile this holiday season.
After finding out about her Globe nod for the drama “The Great Debaters”, which she produced, Winfrey received some less favorable news from the South African courts.
In a shocking turn of events, the court has decided to postpone the proceedings in the case against the dorm matron from her all-girls education facility in South Africa, 27-year-old Virginia Mokgobo, who is being charged for her inappropriate treatment of female students at Winfrey’s school.
The Sebokeng Magistrate court set back the trial for over a month, delaying the proceedings where Mokgobo is being charged with multiple counts of indecent assault, soliciting, enticing a minor to perform indecent acts, verbal abuse and common assault. Mokgobo plead not guilty to all 13 counts against her.
The delay has been granted to that Mokgobo can find suitable representation for her trial.
Mokgobo was set free after posting bail of a reported $450.
