After his new born twins faced a nearly fatal health scare due to an accidental overdose of blood thinners, Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly are taking the matter to court.

The actor and his wife filed a lawsuit this week in Chicago, pointing a finger at Baxter Healthcare Corporation. They are accusing the drug company of negligence, specifically when it comes to packaging one of their leading drugs, the one that almost killed his children, heparin. Heparin is a blood thinning drug, and if sometimes used on new born children.

After a considerable amount of time in the ICU at Cedars Sinai Hospital in L.A. the babies are finally on the road to recovery, while their parents start down the road to justice.

The lawsuit filed by Quaid and his wife is said to reach $50,000 in damages, but their attorney, Susan E. Loggans insists that the case is not about money.

The angry couple are reportedly filing the suit because they hope to prevent other parents from experiencing the same thing. “They believe their children’s recovery is a real miracle,” said Loggans.
