Don Imus Back on the Air
Don Imus?infamous radio host fired for making racist comments?was back on the morning airwaves today.
Just eight months after referring to a black Rutgers University female basketball players as “nappy-headed hoes”, Imus returned to the air with a new WABC-AM program, CBC reports.
The controversial radio personality has somewhat revamped his show and is introducing a new list of cast members. The cast includes two black comedians and Imus swears he will leave out the sexist and racially insensitive comments.
“We now have the opportunity to have a better program, to obviously diversify the cast but the program is not going to change,” Imus said.
This morning’s show saw much of the same political antics Imus was known for. Taped for a live audience in New York, the show featured presidential candidates Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Chris Dodd, CBC News reports.
Other than using the show to “talk about race relations”, Imus says his show will go on as usual. And as for those comments that got him fired in the first place, the host has apologized and says he regrets the remarks.
“I didn’t see any point in going on some sort of Larry King tour to offer a bunch of lame excuses for making an essentially reprehensible remark about innocent people who did not deserve to be made fun of,” he said during the show.
