Dr Jan Adams, the surgeon who operated on Donda West before her tragic death, has now become one of Larry King’s most memorable guests. And the doctor was on the show for mere minutes.

Adams walked off the famous set of Larry King Live just minutes after he sat down to talk to the late night host about the events leading up to and following the death of Kanye West’s late mother. King said the walk-off was one of the strangest things he had ever seen, MTV News reports.

Dr. Adams maintains he was respecting the wishes of the West family who requested the surgeon not discuss the operation or any complications publicly.

“I want to thank you for this opportunity,” MTV News says Adams told King. “Basically, I had come here to talk about things in the press that aren’t accurate about me … But I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the West family.”

It was revealed that before the taping Adams was faxed a letter from the West family that threatened to request that the Medical Board of California decertify the doctor if he talked about the case on the show. Adams reportedly met with his lawyer moments before going on air.

Just as the show started, Adams took off his microphone and said, “I’m going to apologize to you because I think I’m taking up your airtime, but I will not be on the show and I will not discuss any of that. I’m going to honor their wishes.”

The veteran talk show host seemed stunned and then asked, “Will you ever answer questions … Where does this go?” Adams briefly replied and continued to leave. King made one last attempt to save the interview by asking the doctor if he wanted to speak out to clear his own name.

Adams removed his earpiece and answered simply, “No … I do not.”

Donda West was 58 when she died suddenly on November 10 after undergoing cosmetic surgery by Adams. Her funeral was held Tuesday in Spencer, Oklahoma.
