Blue Rodeo delighted fans in downtown Toronto with several surprise gigs around the city on Monday.

The veteran band kicked off its “tour” at Union Station during morning rush hour, as commuters sang along and took pictures.

Armed with minimal equipment, Blue Rodeo traveled by van to several other places including First Canadian Place, Yonge and Dundas, the Black Bull at Queen and Peter Sts., and Air Canada Centre.

The band also stopped by Princess Margaret Hospital, where they performed for an audience of about 100, many of them wheelchair-bound patients or those with IVs.

The band played about five tunes at each stop, including songs from their new CD “Small Miracles,” in stores Tuesday, and older hits “Five Days in May” and “What Am I Doing Here?”

Blue Rodeo will embark on a series of shows in the U.S. next month. Their “Small Miracles” Canadian tour kicks off Jan. 9 in Vancouver.
