At today’s special Apple event, the company updated every iPod player and introduced a new one modeled after the iPhone.

First, Apple took it’s iPod Shuffle line and updated it with new colours including a (PRODUCT) RED version, where part of proceeds go towards charity. The 1GB Shuffle is available today for CAD$89.

The iPod Nano got a major revamp with a brand new screen featuring a resolution of 320*240 and a brand new aluminum casing. The Nano, Apple’s most popular iPod, can now play back video files and includes three games, iQuiz, Vortex and Klondike. In addition, the new Nano now supports Apple’s Cover Flow, providing the user with a unique way to browse their music and video library. The iPod Nano ships in 4GB and 8GB configurations for CAD$169 and CAD$219 respectively.

Apple also renamed it’s original iPod, the iPod Classic and updated it’s specifications to include a new aluminum casing and a larger hard drive. The iPod Classic is available in 80GB and 160GB configurations for CAD$279 and CAD$399 respectively.

Finally, Apple did what many where hoping for, releasing a version of the iPhone without the phone capabilities. Called the iPod Touch, the newest addition to the iPod family, sporting an almost identical look and feel to the iPhone, let’s users watch and listen to video and music, surf the Internet via the build wi-fi and buy music from the iTunes store right from the iPod. The iPod Touch will be available towards the end of the month in 8GB and 16GB configurations for CAD$329 and CAD$449 respectively.
