This week’s Canadian Idol results show kicked off with the audience filled with “We Will Rock You” glowsticks, while clips of Brian May and Roger Taylor’s appearance at last week’s performance of “We Will Rock You” filled the first ten minutes.

The seven Idols then did a medley of Queen songs, then welcomed out the star of the Canadian production of “We Will Rock You,” Yvan Pedneault.

The two performances were short and sweet, which was kind of disappointing, considering last week we had to watch two full Enrique Iglesias songs.

Instead of a bottom two like last week, this week it was a bottom three: Carly Rae, Brian Melo and Greg Neufeld.

The audience was shocked.

So were the judges.

“With great respect to the Canadian public, that is absolutely ridiculous,” Farley Flex said.

Zack Werner predicted his favourite singer would be going home.

“The world is upside down, Carly Rae is going home.”

“Those in my mind were the top three from last night,” Jake Gold said about the three, before telling them no matter who goes home, they will all have successful careers.

Werner’s prediction did not come true, Carly Rae was pronounced safe before the final break.

The favourite to win, Greg Neufeld, was the one who went home.

“Canada got this wrong. I don’t care if I’m not supposed to say this. Canada got this wrong,” host Ben Mulroney told Greg after his elimination.

This was Greg’s second run at “Canadian Idol.” Last season he did not make it past the top 22.
