Police: ‘Benoit Suffocated Wife & Son, Killed Himself’
Wrestling superstar CHRIS BENOIT murdered his wife and seven-year-old son before killing himself, police have confirmed.
Cops discovered the dead family at their Atlanta, Georgia home on Monday afternoon.
Detectives believe 40-year-old former World Heavyweight Champion Benoit asphyxiated his wife Nancy and son Daniel on Friday and Saturday respectively, before hanging himself on Sunday.
At this time, authorities are baffled as to Benoit’s motive.
District Attorney Scott Ballard admits, “When you’re talking about the death of a seven-year-old boy, what motive could there be?
“(The deaths are) quite bizarre. None of it takes away from the fact that it’s just a huge tragedy. I’m just blown away by the fact that a seven-year-old boy has been killed.”
Chris and Nancy Benoit wed in 2000. According to local newspaper the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nancy filed for divorce in May 2003, accusing her husband of domestic abuse. The divorce petition was withdrawn in August 2003.
