The iPhone is due to launch in the U.S. at Apple Stores and select AT&T Stores June 29 at 6:00PM local time. With news filtering in all week, including updated battery life and rate plans, the first official journalist reviews (for those select few who were given an iPhone before launch) hit the internet today.

Generally, the response to the iPhone is that it generally is worthy of all its hype. The touch interface is great, but the touch keyboard takes time to get used to. Battery life is good, and in cases better than acceptable, while the speed of ATT’s EDGE network (used for cellular internet) is a big disappointment.
