Beatles End Apple Dispute
THE BEATLES have reached an agreement with technology giant Apple, ending a 25-year dispute over the use of the Apple name.
Apple Inc will now assume full control of the Apple brand, but they have agreed to licence certain trademarks back to the Beatles’ record company Apple Corps for continued use.
Apple Inc chief executive STEVE JOBS says, “We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks. It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner, and in a way that should remove the potential of further disagreements in the future.”
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. It is not known whether the Beatles have agreed to sell their music on Apple Inc’s iTunes download store as part of the deal.
