The Box Office: Prediction – Jan. 19

Every Friday, I predict how much money the new film releases will earn at the box office. In the first week, I was off by just 19.4%. Last week, I was off by 34.1%. Ouch.
Here are my predictions for the third week of 2007.
The Hitcher – I see big things for this film for two reasons: it’s a horror film geared at people in their teens and 20s and it’s another weak week at the box office. I’m going to say this film earns $24 million this week.
The Dead Girl – intriguing storyline about five people coming together to solve a mystery, but a fairly weak cast (Toni Collette, Brittany Murphy, Marcia Gay Harden) and not a whole lot of publicity means I’ll predict $1.5 million.
And those are surprisingly all of the new releases for this week.
