‘All in the Family,’ ‘Jeffersons’ Star Dies
Actor Mike Evans, best known for playing the role of Lionel Jefferson in “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons,” has died. He was 57.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Evans passed away of throat cancer last week in California.
On “All in the Family,” Evans played the black neighbour of the infamously bigoted character Archie Bunker. He kept in the role in “The Jeffersons,” a spin-off show.
Aside from his on-screen appearances, Evans was also the co-creator of the TV series “Good Times,” another “All in the Family” spin-off.
