“Canadian Idol” isn’t the only Idol franchise with a new twist this season.

According to the New York Daily News, “American Idol” has a surprise for its sixth season, premiering next month.

“If there’s one thing that makes ‘American Idol’ so big, it’s a huge event. Something we’re working on is a big-event show, sometime in the middle of the season, something that will blow America away,” Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of “American Idol,” told the newspaper.

She tells the newspaper the early auditions, which happened in August are “great.” “American Idol” is set to premiere its new season Jan. 16 on FOX and CTV.
