The new Avril Lavigne album, optimistically titled “The Best Dam Thing,” has been given an April 2007 release date.
According to Billboard, the first single from the record will be “Girlfriend,” and should hit airwaves in February.
It’s the first studio album from Lavigne since 2004′s “Under My Skin,” which, according to Nielsen SoundScan, has sold nearly 3 million copies in the U.S.
“I promise you guys will LOVE this record — it is my favorite one,” Lavigne wrote of her new record on her MySpace page. “And I can’t wait! It is really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident [and] cocky in a playful way … all the good stuff.”
