Hepburn’s Little Black Dress Fetches $807,000
The little black Givenchy dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s sold at Christie’s auction house on Tuesday for US$807,000.
The price, paid from a telephone bidder, weighed in at six times higher than the anticipated estimate.
The iconic costume was expected to get anywhere between US$98,000 and US$138,000.
All proceeds go to the City of Joy Aid which assists India’s poor.
Audrey Hepburn will always be noted for her elegant, classic style of sophisticated dress.
Her title character in Breakfast at Tiffany’s as Manhattan socialite Holly Golightly is the cornerstone of her timeless style.
