Akon Reigns With 1-2 Punch on Billboard Hot 100
R&B sensation Akon is tearing up the charts this week. The singer from Senegal not only nabbed his first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “I Wanna Love You,” featuring Snoop Dogg, he also took the number two slot as well with “Smack That,” featuring Eminem.
Perhaps this means Akon’s new album, “Konvicted,” will climb up to number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, after having debuted this week at No. 2 with first-week sales of 284,000 units sold.
How long Akon will reign at the top of the Hot 100 is a mystery, with Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” shooting up the charts quickly and coming in at No. 3 this week.
Rounding out the top five are Justin Timberlake’s “My Love,” featuring T.I. (last week’s No. 1, now at No. 4), and Fergie’s Fergalicious, which dropped two spots to No. 5 this week.
