Miss the wedding of the year? David Beckham’s not impressed.

Soccer star Beckham has been forced to decline his invite to the weddding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in Italy this week because he can’t get out of work.

While he was able to visit TomKat on Friday, Real Madrid says the midfielder must return to train with his team before their game against Racing Santander at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday. No excuses, despite the fact that Beckham will not even be playing the game due to a left knee injury.

“He’s injured, he hasn’t recovered and he has to train,” Madrid coach Fabio Capello was quoted as saying in sports daily AS.

As for Beckham missing the wedding? “That’s not my problem,” Capello said.

While Beckham’s contract with the team ends in June, rumour has it that the 31-year-old will likely leave the club early during a transfer window in January. Missing the TomKat wedding may just push him over the edge. He has been with Real Madrid for three and a half years.

Fans speculate Beckham may return to the Egnlish Premier League or go stateside to join the Major League Soccer club in the U.S.
