Ellen Pompeo, currently a star on TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” has gotten engaged to music producer Chris Ivery.

The proposal took place last Friday, Pompeo’s 37th birthday, reports Canada.com. Her 38-year-old boyfriend popped the question with a 3.5-carat emerald-cut diamond and platinum Tacori ring.

The two have been dating for only about three years, though they group up in the same area outside Boston without ever knowing each other.

Pompeo plays the role of Meredith Grey on the popular medical show.

No date for the couple’s wedding has been announced.
