Brooks and Dunn were shining stars sweeping up three awards for their song “Believe” at the 40th Annual Country Music Association Awards Monday night.

The dynamic duo took home single and song of the year, and vocal duo award.

Kenny Chesney won entertainer of the year. He accepted the award gracefully saying, “This year has in ways been the most emotionally satisfying year and also the most emotionally draining year of my life.” Chesney split from Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger last year.

Keith Urban was a no-show after entering rehabilitation last month for alcoholism.

When Urban’s name was announced for Male Vocalist of the Year it was Dunn who received the trophy on his behalf.

In a letter writer by Urban, Dunn read, “To my wife, Nicole, I love you.”

“I’m looking forward to coming home and seeing you all soon.”

Among other winners, American Idol winner Carrie Underwood won female vocalist and the Horizon Award.
