Britney’s Sex Video Libel Suit Dismissed
The libel suit that pop-star Britney Spears brought against celebrity magazine Us Weekly over a sex video report has been thrown out of court.
According to Reuters, a judge in Los Angeles dismissed the case on Monday, having found no support for Spears’ claims that the article was defamatory.
The suit was filed last year, with Spears alleging that Us Weekly made up a story about a self-made sex tape featuring the singer and husband Kevin Federline. The couple was seeking $10 million U.S. in damages.
The story was published in October 2005 under the headline “Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004.” The story claimed that a member of their entourage had threatened to make the “raunchy footage” public.
