Britain’s Marianne Faithfull, an icon of the ’60s music scene, has fully recovered after a bout with breast cancer.

Reuters reports that a spokesman made the announcement on Monday, saying that Faithfull plans to resume a world tour put on hold when she was diagnosed with the disease in September.

“It has been an extraordinary experience and, in many ways, extremely positive,” read a statement released by the singer. “I didn’t realize how many true friends I had.”

According to the spokesman, Faithfull’s speedy recovery was made possible by the fact that the cancer was caught early.

She can currently be seen in Sofia Coppola’s new film, “Marie Antoinette,” in which she plays the role of Antoinette’s mother.
