Pop-folk singer Jewel isn’t renewing her contract with Atlantic Records and is looking to make a country music album in the future.

The singer is hosting the next season of Nashville Star, a country music version of American Idol.

“I’ve been wanting to do that [release a country record] my whole career, and now might be a good time to do it,” she says.

Atlantic plans to release a best of Jewel compilation in 2007.
