Reuters reports that the host of the hit game show “The Price is Right” is planning to retire in June from the long running game show.
Barker, 82, has been a game show host for 50 years, beginning with being host on the NBC show “Truth or Consequences.” He says the daily grind of a game show is why he has decided to retire.
“One of the reasons for my retirement is it is really a demanding schedule for me at my age,” Barker said, adding that he plans to donate more of his time to charity work.
Barker began hosting “The Price is Right” in 1972, it is the longest running game show in U.S. history. CBS plans to continue the show after Barker’s departure, but has not announced a new host.
