Dick Clark to Auction Personal Collection of Memorabilia
American television personality Dick Clark has announced that he will auction off several prominent items from his own personal collection of memorabilia, amassed over his multi-decade career in show business.
Reuters reports that some of the big-ticket items include a left-handed bass originally owned by Paul McCartney, a bra worn by Madonna, and one of Michael Jackson’s iconic beaded gloves.
The 76-year-old will also sell the microphone he used for 31 years while hosting American Bandstand. Guernsey’s Auction House said the piece could bring in anything between $10,000 and $100,000 US.
“It was an extension of my right arm,” said Clark. “I held on to it for several hours a day, every day.”
Part of the cash raised in the sale will be donated to TJ Martell Foundation, and organization that helps fund cancer, leukaemia and AIDS research.
