Earlier today, Apple posted a support document on its web site indicating that a small percentage (<1%) of their latest Video iPods shipped after Sept. 12th, 2006, included a trojan horse that only affects Windows based machines.

The trojan, known as RavMonE.exe, can be removed with the latest anti-virus software.

“This known virus affects only Windows computers, and up to date anti-virus software which is included with most Windows computers should detect and remove it. So far we have seen less than 25 reports concerning this problem.”

Macintosh based computers are unaffected by this virus.

According to Sophos, RavMonE.exe can reduce system security, open links to web sites and allow others to access the infected computer.

The iPod Nano and Shuffle products are virus free.
