Major theatre chains are refusing to carry the controversial film, “Death of a President.”

The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, is about the fake assassination of U.S. President George W. Bush.

Reuters is reporting that the film is set to open in theatres on Oct. 27 – just over a week before the elections in the U.S. However, plans on releasing it may not be great, since the States’ biggest theatre chain – Regal Entertainment Group – has decided it will not exhibit the film.

“We would not be inclined to program this film. We feel it is inappropriate to portray the future assassination of a sitting president, regardless of political affiliation,” Regal Entertainment Group CEO Mike Campbell said.

Other chains refusing to exhibit the film include Cinemark USA, while National Amusements is still in negotiations regarding exhibiting the film.
