Mary Hart, the longtime host of popular celeb gossip show “Entertainment Tonight,” has signed a multiyear contract to keep her position.

Hart celebrated the start of her 25th season on “ET” last month, having joined the show in 1982. She became co-host after only two months.

“At this point, ‘ET’ and Mary Hart are synonymous,” said CBS Television Distribution Group CEO Roger King, whose company syndicates the show. “She is as enthusiastic today as she was 25 years ago when she joined ‘ET’ and created a television icon together.”

“ET” has held the top ratings spot for a syndicated entertainment newsmagazine for almost 1300 weeks. The show debuted on September 14, 1981.
