Christie’s of New York kicked off the start of a three-day Star Trek auction today.

The auction house obtained over 1,000 items from the CBS Paramount Studios lot, including blueprints, props and costumes.

Nerds, er, fans started bidding early, with battles over many of the same lots, including a captain’s chair from Star Trek Enterprise that closed at $32,000 US.

The auction is one of many events worldwide celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Star Trek series.
