Rapper Cassidy was injured in a car crash in New Jersey on Wednesday night, MTV reports.

A J Records spokesperson said Cassidy was on his way to the studio when a U-Haul swerved into oncoming traffic and struck his SUV.

Cassidy is currently still in the hospital in critical condition with a fractured skull and several broken bones. He is said to be breathing on his own and is undergoing a CAT scan.

None of the four other passengers in the vehicle were injured.

Cassidy is working on his third studio album, his first since being released from prison earlier this year after being convicted for involuntary manslaughter and other charges stemming from the 2005 shooting death of Desmond Hawkins.
