Timberlake Hangs on to Top Spot
Despite heavy competition from new releases this week, Justin Timberlake is still hanging on tight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with “FutureSex/LoveSounds.”
The pop singer sold 217,000 copies of his sophomore solo effort in its second week of release, making him just a little less than 100,000 copies away from the one million mark in sales of the record since it hit store shelves on September 12.
Clay Aiken came just short of the top spot with his new album, “A Thousand Different Ways,” which moved 205,000 units. His 2003 debut, “Measure of a Man,” entered the chart at No. 1 with 613,000 copies sold.
Rounding out the top five are Fergie, with her first solo release “The Dutchess” opening at No. 3; Kenny Chesney’s “LIVE: Live Those Songs Again” at No. 4; and John Mayer’s “Continuum,” which slipped from No. 2 to 5 in its second week.
