Fantasio Barrino’s Father Sues Simon and Schuster
Following the footsteps of author James Frey, allegations are being made that things in Fantasia Barrino’s memoirs are false.
E! Online is reporting the father of the “American Idol” winner says that there are scenes of “pure fiction” in her memoir.
Joseph Barrino is suing book publisher Simon and Schuster for $10 million (US), claiming that Fantasia’s book, “Life is Not a Fairy Tale,” is filled with items that are “false, exaggerated, sensational, intentional and malicious untruths.”
He also alleging that it was not Fantasia that wrote the book, but her grandmother, who intentionally portrayed him as hostile, asking Fantasia for money and that his children’s music careers were more important to him than their educations.
“The unfortunate publication of Fantasia’s life story by Simon & Schuster seeks to capitalize on her American Idol success through disparaging certain members of her family. The lawsuit seeks to redress these wrongs and restore the integrity of the family members,” Kendall Minter, Joseph’s attorney said in a statement.
Simon and Schuster has not commented on the lawsuit.
