“Bon Cop, Bad Cop,” the bilingual buddie-cop film, has recently broken the record for highest-grossing film ever in Quebec by pulling in a whopping $9 million at the box office.

CBC.ca reports that the film, starring Colm Feore and Patrick Huard, has overtaken the previous record-holder, 2002’s “Seraphin: Un homme et son peche.”

“Bon Cop, Bad Cop” is a comedy/action thriller that pairs Feore, an uncompromising Toronto cop, with Huard, a rebellious Montreal officer, as they try to solve the murder of a man found at the Ontario-Quebec border.

Since its opening on Aug. 4, the movie has grossed $9,389,972 in Quebec, however it has not done so well in the rest of Canada where is has only grossed $1.3 million. This is much less in comparison to last year’s Quebec family drama, “C.R.A.Z.Y.,” which earned $6.2 million in English Canada.

Although this may be a milestone for French-Canadian cinema, the overall best-selling Canadian film is “Porky’s,” which grossed $11.2 million in 1982.
