Lou Diamond Phillips Faces Assault Charges
“La Bamba” has been a bad boy. Actor Lou Diamond Phillips, best known for playing musician Ritchie Valens in the 1987 film, is faces charges of domestic battery.
The charges stem from an August fight with his girlfriend, according to Reuters. A statement from Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo alleges that Phillips “pushed and dragged (his girlfriend) across the house, resulting in scrapes to both knees.”
His girlfriend’s name has not been released in court papers.
If convicted, the 44-year-old actor will face a maximum sentence of one year in jail and a $2000 U.S. fine. He is scheduled for arraignment on October 18.
