The big-screen return of Johnny Knoxville and co. in “Jackass Number Two” violently threw itself into the weekend’s top spot at the box office.

Reuters reports that the movie beat its target take of $23 million U.S. with total earnings of $28.1 million.

The No. 2 spot was filled by Jet Li’s latest martial arts epic, “Fearless.” However, it didn’t come close to “Jackasses’” numbers, bringing in only $10.6 million.

Rounding out the top three was “Gridiron Gang,” which dropped from No. 1 after only one week in theatres. Its weekend take was $9.7 million.

The big disappointment of the weekend was “All the King’s Men,” despite a star-studded including Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Sean Penn. Industry experts estimated the film would bring in around $8-10 million, but it only ended up with $3.8 million in the bank. The film received a similarly weak response when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.
