Mel Gibson dodged journalists at an Oklahoma screening of his new movie by showing up in disguise.

According to the BBC, the embattled actor had originally called off the screening of “Apocalypto,” but later changed his mind. He did, however, arrive wearing a mask and a wig to keep reporters at bay.

The action-adventure flick is set during the final days of Mexico’s Mayan civilization. Its dialogue is reportedly comprised of an obscure Mayan dialect.

Gibson stirred up controversy earlier this year when he was arrested for drunk driving. He made several anti-Semitic and sexist comments during the famous arrest, attracting international outrage.
