A $10 million U.S. lawsuit brought against singer Liza Minnelli by her estranged husband David Gest has been thrown out of court by a New York judge.

In the spousal abuse suit, Gest claimed that Minnelli assaulted him while on a drunken rampage, including throwing a lamp at him and beating his face with her fists.

However, Judge Jane Solomon ruled that evidence of the extent of Gest’s injuries was unreliable.

“The plaintiff complaint must be dismissed in its entirety,” she said in her decision. “There is no triable issue of fact.”

The disputed incident occurred in June 2003 in a London hotel room. The two have been split up ever since, having been married for just over a year at the time of the fight.

The two are also in the midst of divorce proceedings, which are not tied to either Gest’s assault suit or a countersuit filed by Minnelli. She claims that he damaged her career by alienating some of her show business contacts.
