Justin Timberlake Brings Sexy Back To Number One
Justin Timberlake has brought Sexy Back all the way to number one. The former ‘N Syncer’s new album, “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” debuted at the top of the charts with 685,000 copies sold for the week, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.
It was Timberlake’s first number one as a solo artist and his accomplishment also marks the biggest sales week of the year by a solo artist. Timberlake is behind only Rascal Flatts in first-week sales this year. The band’s “Me & My Gang” album moved 722,000 copies in its debut.
“FutureSex/LoveSounds” also debuted at number one in the U.K., Canada, Ireland, Australia and Singapore.
Behind Timberlake at number two on the charts is another big debut from singer-songwriter John Mayer. His new album, “Continuum,” sold nearly 300,000 copies in its first week, and helped to knock Beyonce’s “B’Day” to slot number three.
Mayer’s last album, “Heavier Things,” debuted at number one in 2003 with 316,000 copies sold. It went multiplatinum and earned the singer two Grammys.
