People will stop at nothing to get to red-hot couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. One man even went as far as impersonating a federal officer.

Nelson Mercado, 46, was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly claimed that he was a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security while applying for a job with Brangelina’s bodyguard service, Sunset Protective Services and Investigation.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, Mercado asked specifically to be assigned to guard Pitt and Jolie. However, Mercado allegedly carried a fake DHS credential. He also drove a typical police car-like Ford Crown Victoria with tinted windows and police lights that were fraudulently registered.

Mercado allegedly got away with the lies from August 2005 to May 2006. He may be sentenced to up to three years in prison if he is convicted.
