Irish megastars (and saviors of the universe) U2 are hard at work on their next album, and they’ve brought producer Rick Rubin along for the ride.

Billboard reports that the band has been working on the follow-up to 2004’s “How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb” since August.

U2 also has plans to record a cover of the Skids’ “The Saints are Coming” with Green Day.

Money raised from sales of the song will go towards Music Rising, a fund that helps New Orleans artists replace instruments that were lost or damaged in the Hurricane Katrina disaster. The organization was co-founded by U2 guitarist The Edge.

Fans eager for a dose of U2 don’t have to wait for the new album. The band will release a DVD covering their Zoo TV tour on September 19.
