‘The Covenant’ Tops Worst Box Office in 3 Years
“The Covenant,” a thriller about teenage boys with supernatural powers battling evil forces, topped this weekend’s box office.
But studio execs don’t have much reason to be happy — it was the slowest weekend at the theatres in three years, reports Reuters.
The film took in $9 million US in its first three days, followed by “Hollywoodland,” which $6 million for its debut. The former Number One, “Invincible,” dropped to third with $5.8 million.
Precisely three years ago, David Spade’s “Dickie Roberts: Formber Child Star” was the last film to debut in the top spot with less that $10 million. It brought in $6.7 million that weekend.
