Just three days after giving birth to a healthy baby girl, Anna Nicole Smith has been hit by tragedy. Her 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, was found dead in a hospital room on Sunday.

E! Online reports that the young Smith had travelled to the Bahamas to be with his mother and new sister. Details aren’t being released, but he somehow ended up in the private Doctor’s Hospital in Nassau. His death at the hospital remains under investigation.

“We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor,” read a statement from Smith’s lawyer, Howard K. Stern. “Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being.”

His father, Billy Smith, was married to Anna Nicole from 1985 until their divorce in 1987. She was 16 years old at the time of their marriage, while he was 17.

Smith announced her latest pregnancy in June, but has not yet revealed the identity of the baby girl’s father.
