Remember how John Mayer and Jessica Simpson were in love? Then how she got dumped? Turns out the Public Affair may have been all just one publicist’s fantasy.
Simpson’s father and manager Joe has fired his daughter’s publicist, Rob Shuter, allegedly because he was unhappy with how the fiasco played out on the covers of People and tabloids everywhere.
A source close to the affair told Radar magazine that the story of the singers’ “relationship” was “100 per cent Shuter. He broke all the rules of the game. He’s a pathological liar. I wonder how much Jessica even knew what he was up to.”
Simpson confirmed that the rumours weren’t true when she announced “I am actually not dating John Mayer,” on The View this week.
Tabloids are pointing the finger at Joe Simpson and an Epic Records executive for making up the story to give Jessica Simpson more buzz when her new album, “A Public Affair” dropped last week.
