‘Stone Angel’ Movie Being Shot in Manitoba
“The Stone Angel,” Margaret Laurence’s popular novel, is currently being turned into a film.
According to the Canadian Press, shooting is taking place in numerous Manitoba cities, including Winnipeg, Ladywood, Otterburne, Balmoral, Emerson and Hartney. Filming is set to wrap up by September 20.
The story is based on the character of Hagar Shipley, a 90-year-old who refuses to movie into a nursing home and lose her independence.
Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn will play the role.
The film is being directed by Kari Skogland, who also wrote the adapted screenplay.
