With no special artist coaching the Idol hopefuls this week, we were treated instead to a performance by ex-Idol contestant Rex Goudie, who placed second last season to his now-girlfriend Melissa O’Neil, this week on Canadian Idol’s results show.

Ben Mulroney then presented Goudie with his platinum record, before a special product placement by the top four for Miracle Whip.

The bottom two idols this week were Chad Doucette and Tyler Lewis.

“If you were in my office, and you were a potential client for me, I’d be saying you have a unique voice which means you have to sing your own words, because your voice has to sing your words So keep doing what you’re doing and write songs,” Jake Gold said to Chad, before the bottom two were announced.

While Sass Jordan advised Tyler, also before the announcement of the bottom two, “You’re a really down to earth person with a lot of soul and a lot of heart and that really comes through in your singing. I would say to really concentrate on yourself and who you are and what you want to say, and also don’t take any advice from anybody! Just be you!”

Chad was announced as the one going home. He did a final performance of “Everybody Hurts,” which was one of the songs he had performed the night before, for Judge’s Choice night.

“I am so glad that you decided to come back and re-audition this year,” Mulroney said to Chad, after announcing he was the one who had the lowest amount of votes.

“This whole experience has been so amazing for me. Without everyone here and everyone back home, I wouldn’t be where I am right now and you guys showed me that it’s okay to be unique. Thank you guys so much,” Chad said to his fans.

Next week legendary singer Tony Bennett will coach the Idols, and he will perform on the results show next Tuesday night.
