McCartney Pays for Missing Appearance
Looks like his impending divorce is costing more than Paul McCartney expected it to.
The Independent is reporting that the singer has agreed to make a 1.6 million pound donation to a landmine charity, after he had pulled out of a fundraising gala he was supposed to attend with his soon-to-be-ex-wife Heather Mills.
The event, which was to benefit Adopt-A-Mine in Los Angeles, had been hosted by the couple since 2001. Due to their upcoming divorce, the two pulled out of this year’s event, which has subsequently been cancelled.
“There is no obligation for Paul to make up the shortfall, but he remains patron and is passionate about the landmine issue. He hasn’t as yet paid a cheque. Until something arrives, you don’t know what it’s going to be and what amount it is,” Keith Kelly, director of Adopt-A-Mine U.K., said to the paper.
